City of Gold Canyon
Description: Golf Canyon is a part of Apache Junction in the far east valley. It sits at the base of the most beautiful mountain in all of North America; Superstition Mountain. It is home to many golf communities, such as Superstition Mountain Golf and Country club which holds the Countrywide Tradition Championship Skins game. The area is lush with Sonoran desert landscaping and is rich with historical tales of gold mining and prospecting in the Superstition Mountains.
Golf Canyon was a bare piece of land that started to be developed in the 1980's. There are several communities in the Gold Canyon area that revolve around retired living and focused on selling to many adult retirees. Most of the homes in Gold Canyon are custom homes that are built on bare lots. If you're interested in this area, you can drive around and see many custom homes being built.
Schools: Even though this area has many adult communities, it has it's own Elementary School and is part of the Apache Junction Elementary School District. The Apache Junction schools test lower than the national average. There is a large population of lower income families in certain parts of the city and the schools test scores reflect those demographics.
